Pastor Thomas Thao
Reverend Thao is the Pastor at Albright United Methodist Church in Milwaukee, WI. He also serves as the Pastor for New Hope Hmong United Methodist Church.
Thomas was born in Laos, where he grew up as a child. In 1979, he and his family fled Laos to the U.S. as refugees, settling in St. Paul, Minnesota. It was at Roseville Baptist Church that he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, was baptized, and received the call to ministry.
He graduated from Northwestern College in 1992 with double majors, B.A.’s in Pastoral Studies and in Bible. He earned his M.Div. in 1994 from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Currently, he is working on the D.Min. at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, and anticipates graduating in 2016.
Thomas was ordained in the Southern Baptist Convention at Drexel First Baptist Church, Drexel, North Carolina in 1996. Recently, he was elected by his peers at the Clergy Session of Annual Conference as a Provisional Elder of the Wisconsin Annual Conference in 2015 and was commissioned by Bishop Hee-Soo Jung.

He currently serves the Albright and New Hope Hmong United Methodist congregations as the bilingual pastor of a two-point charge ministry cooperative.
Connexionally, he served as the Chair of the National Hmong Caucus of the United Methodist Church from 2009-2011. He is a current member of the Board of Higher Education and Student Ministry in the Wisconsin Conference. He is the current leader of the Southeast District Circuit 1 (SE01). He is also part of the District Strategy Team for the Southeast District.
He has a passion for disciple-making. It gives him much joy to see people grow in their relationship with Christ and become active in serving others in name of Christ.
He and his wife Maynou have been married for 22 years, and they are proud parents of five children: Johnathan, Arielle, Justice, Anneliese, and Adelyne.
When he has some spare time, Pastor Thomas enjoys hiking and playing with his kids who bring him so much joy.
